Textiles – Fabric Decoration
A City and Guilds qualified embroiderer and textile artist for over 25 years.
Tricia creates impressionistic landscapes of the beautiful scenery of Somerset, in particular, the places close to home on the edges of the Somerset Levels and close to the Mendip Hills.
Working from her own photographs and using watercolour paint on fabric as a background, all the feature details are made using her ‘faithful and elderly’ sewing machine as a ‘freehand’ thread paintbrush. Upon completion the surrounding mount is then also created by covering the board in fabric and blending it into the picture using watercolours.
Tricia also loves to create abstract hand and machine embroidery to a given theme, below are a couple of examples ‘Kaleidoscope’ – which speaks for itself and ‘Whirlpool’ – from a theme of moving water. She has created 3 commissions for church embroidery and is proud to think that her altar frontals will be there long after she is!
She is also happy to accept commissions for favourite beauty spots or garden pictures.
