What is the Guild?

The Somerset Guild of Craftsmen, established in 1933, is a body of professional craftsmen and women who promote the highest standards of design and craftsmanship. Each member’s work undergoes a selection procedure before full Craft Member status is conferred. You may wish to consider applying to join the Guild as a Craft Member. or enquiring about Membership Bursaries.

What are the Membership Options?

Craft Members
Craft Membership is open to those whose design and quality of work meet the approval of a Selection Committee that sits several times throughout the year.  A non-returnable selection fee of £25  is payable. The right of regular exhibition at the Guild’s galleries is confined to those with Craft Membership.

Membership Bursary
Each year the Guild will offer a limited number of Bursaries, giving new, innovative and emerging craftsmen free membership for up to one year. All other conditions of membership apply.

Current membership rates are as follows:
Craft Members:   £120 per year, renewable on 1 April annually.
Membership Bursaries:  By invitation of the selection committee, plus commission on sales will apply.
