Wood – Wood Carving
“I study almost every object I encounter for shape and texture, from a manhole in the street to the natural sponges of the sea. All have some sort of influence on my work and I work out how these inspirations can be incorporated into my pieces.
Pots and urns from the past now hold as many wonders in terms of shape, colour and texture, as the wild seas. My aim is to incorporate these with the natural beauty of the variety of woods that are available. Using texture and colour I endeavour to enhance each piece of work to show its form and natural beauty.
Inspiration is everywhere, you just need to see it.”
