Wood – Wood Carving

I am a woodturner making bowls, vases, hollow forms and table lamps.

My initial training was in Metallurgy, later I became a metalwork and then a Craft, Design and Technology teacher.

I have been woodturning since 1997; my initial interest was in making hollow forms, but this has broadened to include all aspects of woodturning and surface decoration.

I like to work creatively with wood in the green state, straight from the tree. Sometimes I create the piece in one go, but more often I rough turn, allow the wood to dry and then finish turn.

More recently I have been developing techniques to create latticework bowls and vases for which I have received a number of awards in national competitions. I have been on the register of professional turners since 2010
