Jonathan Blackmore

Jonathan is a linocut printmaker, inspired by local medieval architecture and the Somerset landscape.

He studied Fine Art at Somerset College of Arts & Technology (1979) and a BA Honours degree in Fine Art at Wolverhampton University (1982).

Jonathan uses the reduction method to create his colour prints, cutting away more lino, from a single block, for each successive colour. Lino is an exciting medium, each cut is a commitment, the anticipation builds as each layer is revealed.
Making prints by hand creates slight variations, so that every print is unique. He often prints on St. Cuthbert’s, locally made, Somerset printmaking paper.
Jonathan also runs linocut workshops for beginners.
